Following a brief introduction by your guide, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the dogs and learn the beginning skills of handling a sled team. Participants weighing at least 120 pounds can take the reins and drive their own sled, while younger guests can bundle up for a cozy ride. The emphasis is on collaborating with the dogs and building confidence as a musher.

Do I actually get to drive the sled?
Yes — guests who meet the weight requirement of 120 lbs may drive a sled under guidance. Lighter guests ride as passengers
Is this tour good for kids?
Yes — children can ride as passengers. Those under the weight minimum for driving may ride as passengers; children of a certain age may share or ride along with the guide.
What should I bring?
Dress in warm, layered winter clothing, wear waterproof boots, gloves, a hat (preferably windproof), and sunglasses or goggles. Bring water and a snack if needed.
Do I need prior experience?
No, beginners are welcome. All training is provided at the start.
Where does the dog sledding take place?
We are approximately 30 minutes from Big Sky Resort, 45 minutes from West Yellowstone and 1 hour from Bozeman off of Hwy 191 (road from Bozeman to Big Sky).
Is transportation included to the meeting point?
No — guests are responsible for getting themselves to the designated meeting or trailhead location.
Do tours take place in Yellowstone National Park?
No. Dogsledding is not allowed within the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park. We operate near the park boundary, in a wild and remote area home to all the same wildlife that lives in the park.
